CSA Summer Recap (2021)

After a year of mostly virtual programming, this summer was about re-engaging with the kids in person. And we did just that!

We hosted two sessions of camp in June at CSA, one for grades 5-8 and one for grades 9-12.

Highlights from our camp included the following –––>

• Pickleball at Sawyer Point
• Financial literacy curriculum
• Resume & cover letter workshop
• Myers-Briggs assessment
• TQL Stadium tour, home to FC Cincinnati

Additionally, we connected students to external camp opportunities, including –––>

• T Squash Academy (1-week beginner squash camp)
• Camp Joy (1-week overnight camp and 3-day teen retreat)
• SEA Citizenship Tour (2-week virtual camp featuring high-profile guest speaker series)
• SEA Summer Academy (3.5-week academic and squash intensive experience at The Kent School in Connecticut)

In July, Bienvenue, Laell, and Leah (far right) were on their way to SEA’s Summer Academy at The Kent School. That was Leah’s first flight!

Summer Camp Outputs & Outcomes

• Offered 76 hours of CSA programming
• Heard from 5 guest speakers
• 1.7 to 1 ratio of students to staff/volunteers
• 90% of students enjoyed being back for in-person squash activities
• 74% of students rated their enjoyment of CSA’s camp as an “8 out of 10” or higher
