The CSA Cup 2017 Event was a huge success! Occurring on Friday, April 28th, and Saturday, April 29th, the event combined a doubles tournament, youth round robin, singles competition, exhibition match, awards ceremony, and cocktail party to raise a portion of our annual operating budget.
Boy, did we succeed! Thanks to all of our generous supporters, captains, co-captains, board members, future board members, players, sponsors, and volunteers, the CSA Cup 2017 raised over $316,000, beating last year’s record of $300,007! Whew-wee, way to go everyone! Check out our team captains and their team totals raised here:
Led by Peg Wyant and Tricia Headley, and Ali Niles Peters
Harrison and Dan’s Team

Led by Yazdi Bagli, Tom Klinedinst, F.D. Wilder, Ben Fotsch, and Morgan Busam
On Friday, April 28th, the teams gathered at Cincinnati Country Club to participate in the doubles tournament. All six teams competed until the finals when Harrison and Dan’s team Michael Motch and Harrison Mullin faced off against Roehr Agency’s team Beau Jamison and Davis Griffin in the epic finale for 1st place. In the end, the powerhouse Mullin and Motch dominated the courts and took the Doubles Cups!
The morning of Saturday, April 29th found itself amidst a Cincinnati maelstrom. Albeit, the youth tournament was destined to go on. The finals had the Skirts Team (William Fassler, Sam Chaudhary, and Tray’Quan Turner) go up against Hayo-Went-Ha Team (Ti’Asia Boner, Jumba Najoli, and Ella Griffin), but in the end, the Skirts emerged victorious.
As the storm cleared, the afternoon of 4/29 was ripe for a singles tournament. Incorporating all six teams and a new handicap system, the competition was intense, and as you will see in the pictures, unique. Teams of five players, including a CSA kid, played games to 11 until the finals when the Skirts faced off against CSRA. The Skirts team consisted of Tim Wyant, Laura Caty, David Martin, Alejandro, and Jeremiah Bolden. The CSRA team consisted of Yazdi Bagli, Rohan Bagli, Tom Klinedinst, Bradley Potter, and Andreina Lara. In the end, the Skirts team would win the Singles Cup!
After all the competition, it was time for merriment and revelry. The cocktail party started under the shining Saturday sun as people, dressed in the finest of fashions, arrived at the CSA. At 6:00pm, the awards ceremony began with many thanks by Austin Schiff to all of our supporters before making way for the real show, the student speakers. Reese Clary, Cevie Smoot, Jeremiah Bolden, Kaleyah Render, and Kiylah Smoot each talked about their time at CSA before presenting our many awards to their recipients. The event ended with the talented hero Jon Geekie facing off against the sinister Nathan Dugan in an exhibition match in which there were pranks, exposed underwear, soda can competitions, and some bravado during the interestingly reffed match by Beau Jamison.
Thanks again to everyone for making 2017’s event a success. We truly appreciate everyone’s time, love, dedication, generosity, and support for CSA’s mission and program. As we end all of our Cup emails, to victory or bust!
